On May 3rd, 2006, the Today Show ran a special expose on psychics. Unfortunately, there are people out there who will seek to take advantage of others' weakness by pretending to have insight they don't have. After watching the show, we thought it was important to help you be able to tell the difference between a real psychic and someone who is pretending to be psychic. They're commonly known as Gypsies - and we work very hard to keep them from working on our line!
The following guidelines will help you determine your reader's authenticity:
A gypsy reader will often start out your reading by asking you to make two wishes. They'll tell you to keep one to yourself and tell them the other. In most cases, you're not calling a psychic to make wishes - your calling for answers and advice based on their perspective. But this is a tactic gypsies are trained with. It should be your first signal (though not a definitive one) that something is amiss.
A gypsy reader will speak in super-generics. For instance, most gypsies will, at some point (probably early on in your reading) say something like this:
"I see that you are the type of person who gives and gives to others, but when it comes time for your turn, it seems that there is never anyone there."
Can you think of a person who wouldn't say that this sometimes applies to them? Probably not. Be conscious that what is being said to you isn't something that could be said to anyone and probably ring true.
That said, when considering what your reader says to you, much of it is about timing. With gypsy readers, you'll usually find that they launch straight into your actual reading very quickly. Most psychics take the time to assess your situation and consult their cards, their guides or whatever divination tools they use (even if it's empathy, it take a little while for them to pick up on your vibes). So, if a reader launches straight in and offers only generalities that could be applied to almost anyone, take a step back and consider if you're getting what you were looking for. You might be getting a Gypsy!
Lastly, there is one absolutely definitive indicator of a false psychic. NO authentic psychic will tell you that you've been cursed - and they're the only one that can help you, if (and only if) you're willing to pay them a certain fee that is in addition to the one agreed upon at the outset of your reading. If anyone ever asks you for additional money to remove a curse, hang up the phone or walk out the door. They're trying to take advantage of you. The truth of the matter is that while your energies may be indicating a certain path for you - you create your own reality. Psychic guides that are real are here to help you along on your path, not take you for a ride!
