"We're all spiritual beings living in bodies. And when our body drops, our spirit still lives on," believes Darcy ext. 9488, a psychic and medium with more than 30 years of experience.
Initially Sugar (not her real name) from Mississippi wasn't so sure about that. She contacted Darcy more out of desperation than faith. "My grandma died three nights ago and I want to talk to her. I don't even know if I believe that you can talk to someone after they've died but a friend of mine suggested I call California Psychics. My grandma was my best friend and I didn't even get to say goodbye," she told Darcy in tears.
Darcy explained to the 25-year-old artist that because her grandma had just passed, it was less likely that she'd make a connection. "The spirit needs some time to get situated and make the transition."
"Yeah that figures," Sugar retorted. She was about to hang up when Darcy advised that she'd try her best to make contact. "It was amazing," she recalls. "Grandma Elsie came forth right away. She was very strong," recalls Darcy.
"She's here," she told Sugar. Of course Sugar had her doubts. Darcy could sense that the woman had died of natural causes. And she saw the number "89." Sugar confirmed that this was indeed correct. Her grandma had been one year shy of ninety. "Please go on," Sugar beckoned.
"Well, your grandma says that she had chest pain but that she didn't want to go to the doctor. It was her time to go and she is at peace with that." She then described her.
"I see her wearing a housedress below the knee and an orange apron. She says she did a lot of cooking. I also see her waving a cane." Sugar laughed.
"Oh my God. I can't believe it," she exclaimed. "That's my grandma. She always wore that apron and she was an amazing cook. As for the cane, she used to give me a whack in the behind with it whenever she teased me, which was a lot. I can't believe it, you made contact with Grandma Elsie!"
"I want to ask her a question," Sugar exclaimed excitedly. "The rest of my family is fighting about the details of her burial. Some want her buried in one plot and the others want her buried in another. Since she didn't leave a will, I need to know what she wants us to do."
Darcy made it clear that she wanted to be buried next to her brother, and that she didn't want any frills at her funeral. The psychic then got an image of some coins, a dresser and a closet. "She says she has something for you. She's been saving coins and she wants you to have them."
"Yeah, I'll be lucky if I get anything. My grandma never said anything about coins."
"Well, she has a collection and she wants you to look for them before someone else finds them," she explained. They wrapped up the conversation, and needless to say Sugar was very pleased. A week later however she called back.
She informed Darcy that after the call, she ran to her grandma's house. Luckily no one was there and she practically ransacked her room. She found a small suede sack hidden in a dresser drawer in the corner of her grandma's walk-in closet. It was filled with different kinds of coins, dating back to the turn of the century.
"I still can't believe it. I'm not going to cash them in." Again Grandma Elsie came right through. She says she's glad you found the coins and that you told the family where she wanted to be buried. I also hear the word 'lights.' Does this mean anything to you," she asked.
Sugar explained that the lights flickered twice during the memorial. "Well it was your grandma saying hello and goodbye," Darcy replied. "She's ready to go but she wants you to continue to talk to her because she can hear you."
"Thank you Darcy for putting me in touch with my grandma and helping me see that death isn't the end."
