Restart Your Life
Just as you “reboot” your computer, you can reboot your way of perceiving life. If you are finding yourself sad, or easily get your feelings hurt, if you feel life is “unfair” to you, or you constantly find yourself negatively comparing yourself to others, or feeling that you have, or are, “less than” – it’s time to take action and prove to yourself that this is an illusion! By shifting perceptions, habits, or dysfunctional behavior, you can change you own life dramatically!
Our perceptions and choices color or shade our world. The brain takes commands in whatever verbal form it hears, negative parents, unhappy mates, TV commercials, or sad music; they all go in and cycle around our brains, shaping our perception of the world. If you listen to depressive music, or get caught up in the ugliness on the news or in newspapers, if the input is always negative then the outcome will be as well. Garbage in, garbage out! So we must shift the negative focus to a more positive outlook in order to feel more positive. Gratitude is an amazing tool for taking back, and creating your own happiness!
There is a test you can do to see if this improves your outlook on life; create a “Gratitude Journal” and for seven days take five minutes each night to write down five things that happened that day that you are grateful for. It can be as small as a smile from a child, or someone letting you in before them in traffic. The only rule is that you must find five things each day for seven days. If you choose not to do it one day, or miss a day, you need to start over until you have done seven days in a row.
This is just a taste of what seeing the world through gratitude can do, in order to really make a huge shift in your perceptions, do this for at least twenty-one days (three weeks), then you will have rebooted your brain so that you see the world as a more friendly and loving space. It takes approximately twenty-one days to change a mental habit.
You will start to notice that you are indeed tuning into the aspects of the day that could qualify as a moment to be grateful for. The more you shift your focus to the more positive aspects of the day, you’ll notice that your day feel more positive, your outlook on your future becomes more positive, and how people perceive you will be… you got it… more positive!
We are all drawn to positive people, the pay raises, flirtations and party invites tend to flow in that direction as well. Positive people tend to have less physical issues, and/or recover more quickly from surgeries or health challenges, positive attitudes attract good energy.
Stop blaming life or others for your feelings of being less than, take action and reclaim a happy life.

Wonderful article Yemaya! This is so true. Since we are co-creators of our lives, it is then obvious that like attracts like and the more positive we are in our internal beliefs and our external actions the more positive we get. Great message…

Hi Yemaya,
The quote aove from your article is ALL true….I just love your articles by the way.
My Great Aunt taught me that it’s a big wide world out there to be experienced and explored,… and that nobody can make you happy except you !
It’s all about how you view life in general, and the type of life you want to create for yourself.
