My boyfriend has not been in contact with me for two months, because he sold his house and left his wife. If I contact him will he be happy to hear from me, or shall I give him more time?
Dear Alison,
I have to start out pretty hard by correcting your current way of thinking. At this time, this man is not your “boyfriend”. If he were, he would be an active part of your life.
He does need more time to adjust to all that he has been through, and to figure out how he wants his future to unfold. I know that you have very deep feelings for him, and the two of you left the door open for a possible future together. That future is only going to come to pass if you allow him the time and space that he needs, and also to be the one to re-establish contact. He knows how to get in touch with you.
If you choose to reach out to him, you would have to do so very carefully and without expectation. Because of your feelings for him, I don’t think you are quite capable of doing this successfully. I’m not trying to be mean, but I am trying to help you avoid looking like the proverbial “psycho chic”.
Your faith and trust in him is a bit blind. While I do see the two of you coming together once again in the future, it is because he comes back for you, not because you are holding onto this idea and patiently waiting.
The time has come for you to move forward in your life, and loosen your hold on the past. As for the present, the silence is truly golden; for each of you.
Brightest Blessings,
