Valerie in Port Hope writes:
I have been seeing a man named Ivan for the past four years. Recently, he wrote to me and said we had to stop this relationship and that he hoped I understood his reasons for this, but I honestly don’t understand. I have deep feelings for him and I wrote back saying that if he ever wants to see me again, he will have to be the one to get in touch with me. Could you shed some insight on this matter?
Dear Valerie,
There is a chance that you will hear from Ivan in December of this year, but I don’t want to get your hopes up. He is involved with another woman.
Sometimes the people that we love don’t love us back. That seems to be the case with your Ivan. Even though it is hard, the best thing you can do for yourself is to accept this and move on.
Time truly is the great healer of all wounds. Eventually you will meet someone who is willing to return the love you have to offer, and memories of Ivan will fade into the past.
I’m sorry.
