When you take a closer look at Mediumship and channeling, you will find that they often run hand in hand. As a Medium, I practice opening a channel to the other side of the veil –- wherein, I allow the spirits to write through me. This technique is called automatic writing. In this manner, the spirit is writing through me, but I am still in control of my body. The spirits often give messages for their loved ones –- giving names and details that I otherwise would not know.
A Channeler’s process is very similar to what I do as an automatic writer. A psychic will open a channel to both worlds, but instead of just allowing the energy to be confined to a technique such as automatic writing, they allow the spirit to come into their physical form. This forces the psychic out of the room so to speak because the psychic is there, but not totally in control.
Channeling is laborious and intensive. It drains the psychic very quickly. I think that psychics considering channeling must have years of training, and a very strong relationship with their guides before trying such an event. There are dangers anytime you relinquish control of your body to an unknown force.
I have channeled during readings on rare occasions, but only after really getting to know all involved … on both sides of the veil. For example, I have a wonderful client who comes to me every year on her son’s birthday to reconnect with him –- he was killed in Afghanistan in 2006. It took a few years to build up the trust, but now, once a year, she gets to have a face-to-face conversation with her son.
This is far more intimate than Mediumship, but it is not without risks.

How do I master full trance?
Can someo tell me how to master full trance. I have achieved it before, but not sure how and I am channeler myself just never knowing how to get it right.
what about going into a trance and clearly make out words in all different handwriting from granite rocks. The words are not scary but i always prortect m6self
I too, am primarily a Medium. I agree with the comment about mutual trust. Usually, I only channel “half under”, and only after I have already established a dialogue with a spirit. Then, another person’s spirit is injected into the conversation if they are dissatisfied with my interpretation of what I’m being shown. I’m a pretty direct, “get to the facts” kind of lady, and not always as perceptive to nuance as (some spirits) would like. They work with me only because they know I can hear them, and if they can focus their information into verbal (or sounds) contact, I am able to hear it and pass it along. Then, the only challenge is not to edit what I’ve heard, but express it verbatim.

Thanks for the article, Rondalafay. You have added to my understanding of mediumship and channeling.
Josepha recommended a great book to me about channeling, called Opening to Channel by Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to know more. It has some excellent meditation exercises in it that will help anyone get more in touch with their guides.
Thanks,
Lise 🙂
Hi K,
My Great Aunt, who was a well known psychic herself, knew and worked with Edgar Cayce…..and you are correct.
Edgar Cayce went under so deep, he had no recall of what he passed on to his secretary who would sit beside him and take notes as he channeled what his guides gave him.

PS….The only time I used to go into deep trance is when I used to do extensive past life regressions….very expensive and very time consuming.
But as a medium first and foremost….I have no need or reason to go under to channel. ( but that’s just me, personally)
it’s my understanding that Edgar Cayce was in full trance yes, but didn’t *leave* his body so to speak. He just was “deeply under”.
I believe all meduims are probably somehwat psychic and probably all psychics are capable of mediumship, yes, however, not everyone can go as deeply.Of course training and awareness make a big difference as does the emtional health of the medium or psychic. But some are only partial trans- mediums and some are full trans-mediums by constitution.
Hi Believer,
When I read …Akashic records are where my Guides obtain their information from, and then pass on to me.
That is how I work……other psychics might be accessing Akashic records thru trance channeling…it’s different for everybody.
How do I know when I’m there ????
Hmmmmm…..I know ” I’m there “, as you put it, when my Guides are hitting things on the head accurately. I have blind faith in my Guides.
I’d say all psychics are accessing Akashic records, in some form or another, whether they even realize it or not.
Definitely, it is not a sacred place open only to a few…..
But, Believer…..there is no
” formula ” for this…..all psychics are different..in their skills, skill range, personal interests…..etc.
Psychics, and their skills and methods, are as individual as a persons’ fingerprints.
Hope this helps…..

Hi Verbena-
I definitely worked on enhancing this about 17 years ago…..I worked with a very brilliant person from the UK, and that put the icing on the cake, let’s say……We all need some type of training….And just like any other profession, we need to “service our skill set”-perhaps update it. Whether it is continuous researching, reading, going to seminars and even teaching.
Thanks a lot,
Miss Krystal
Hi Gina Rose-
Well, I am trying to teach a person right now that has wonderful empath and clairvoyant skills how to channel. This is my first friend- “student- as far as teaching how to channel. I guess time will tell. I think we are on the right track because when I demonstrated to this person/friend how to “drive” in this gear, this person said, “Oh I never tried it that way, before.” So, ahah! My fingers are crossed. It would be hard to write it out, though……I need to be ale to speak on this one…..At least right now….I would like to pass my knowledge down to others, but only if they are really interested.
Thanks,
Miss Krystal
Once, around 20 years ago, I came across a very gifted natural medium…..she was a very eccentric artist who painted aura paintings,in oil, on canvas for her clients.
But she had a unique mediumship gift that worked in an unusual way….the client would come for several sitting sessions to be painted, she would then paint the person’s aura. Her paintings were very massive in size, her clients were usually very well off financially speaking and could afford her artwork,….each painting took several sittings.
When she was done painting their aura, she would ask the client to return within a week or two.She explained to her clients that she would have messages from loved ones for them then.
( She never asked the clients, during a sitting, any questions about those who had crossed over either).
This artist would go to bed at night, and in her sleep, receive messages from client’s loved ones crossed over. The client would return in a week or so to see what messages the artist had to give them. And she was very accurate…..but could only “receive” messages in her deep sleep state.
weird, huh????
… But that is just the way her gift worked for her.
I looked her up about 5 years back and she was still doing the same thing in the same way.
To this day…I’ve yet to run into another person like her.

Hello ALL,
I have a few questions for you ladies and please forgive me as I’m changing the subject a little here….
Are any of you able to access the Akashic Records??
If so, do you get there with the help of your guides, trance channeling (as Edgar Cayce used to) or your mediumship skills? How do you know when you are there? Is it the ultimate place to get any & all questions answered? Can any individual with psychic ability access the records? Or is it a sacred place that only a chosen few can enter?
Thanks!
Hi Verbena,
You did raise a very good point though, just because Edgar Cayce was not in danger, doesn’t mean that the novice would not be. Edgar Cayce was the exception. It just crossed my mind at the time….more as a trivia tidbit.
Please do not be offended, I was not disagreeing with you…you do not stand corrected. I did not mean that as a correction, as a matter of fact, your point made alot of sense to me. Made me think of a ouija board, which can sometimes become an indiscriminate doorway from the other side, and the dangers in using one incorrectly parralel your point….
As teachers we have a responsibilty to the welfare and safety of our pupils.
You raised an EXCELLENT point…..which is why I found it so mentally stimulating.!!!!!!

Hi Miss Krystal…..
Yes…..I agree with you about the fact that all clairvoyants can do remote viewing and have the ability to be either a medium and/or channeler. It just depends on what they are interested in and how far they want to go to develope their skills.

I really enjoyed reading this roundtable of discussion by the way…..it was mentally stimulating. Fun stuff!
Hi Verbena,
I know that they do provide those type of classes here where I live actually. You are actually right about how the trance work promotes healing in the room. That is the actual purpose of having a physical medium circle. Physical mediumship circles also provides growth to all of us that are in it and it helps pass along important messages to us that are in it so that we can help others out in this world. That is what I was taught when I did physical mediumship circles back then. I haven’t done physical mediumship in a year or so but my friend is interested in getting a physical mediumship circle going again. She has a friend that teaches out in NY that meets 2 days of the week and on average the circle work is about 1 hour long. I love how I receive transcripts of the their sessions and how her friend explains what has gone on in the sessions. I know that my friend is going to try to gather more people that can do this kind of work effectively, the more people the more powerful the energy and the more powerful the messages become. I love the circles I feel healed and refreshed after doing them, they are alot of fun that’s for sure. You definitely can actually learn trancing they do offer classes where I am at , as I am am fully certified to do the work both with mental mediumship and physical mediumship. Also, if people are not comfortable in doing physical mediumship then doing mental mediumship circles work as well. They have the same effect as a physical mediumship circle to promote self healing and healing to others , the only difference is that spirit doesnt use our bodies physically but the same purpose is there.
As far as recommendations ,I would recommend to do some research in that area that they live in. That’s how I did it , some spiritual churches may actually teach it like the one I am going to and its actually cheaper if you can find an organization like there. There are metaphysical stores that also offer classes that will certified you as well. Also, , I would attend those metaphysical expos out there, you’ll meet so many teachers and readers and often the lectures that are free as well. I know I used to attend those all the time to learn as much as possible. Then finally there are also magazines that deal with spiritual work. I know th one here where I live is called Visions and its actually free to pick up at certain stores, its like a Bi monthly magazine that brings joy and hope and inspiration to others.
I hope this helps. =)

PS….Edgar Cayce, the late famous psychic always went straight into deep trance. That was unique for him though.
A bit of trivia…
The late great Edgar Cayce was a channeler….my Great Aunt, a famous psychic in her own right, worked with him.
Alot of people don’t know this but Edgar Cayce
was always, ALWAYS in trance during his readings …..hence his name The Sleeping Prophet.
His secretary would sit beside him and take notes as he spoke while in trance. He needed no assostance to come out of trance….when his Guides were done delivering the message , he simply woke up.
He channeled, while in trance, what his Guides read off of Akashic Records.
In fact, when awake, he was not psychic at all and did not even remember his readings.
I’ve met channelers and mediums who are both very adept at what they do. They just access their information in a different way.
I’ve found in teaching students….that their own Guides will come thru in a way that best fits that individual and their own unique psychic abilities.
Interesting stuff. huh ????

Hi Believer,
To answer your questions that form of channeling is called trance channeling. The more technical term is called physical mediumship meaning they use your body. OF course , you give that permission to do so as well. There are also two forms of trance readings . One we called Light trance where we are still in control of our body 50% of it and the spirit is in control of the other 50% of the body. That is the type of reading I provide on here every day, its my trance work. The other one is called deep trance where your own spirit leaves the entire body trusting in your guides to protect your body while another spirit is in control completely. With deep trance you do need a someone to keep control of the energy around you. It’s often done in a physical mediumship circle so there is alot energy surrounding it. With light trance, its not necessary. If you’re accustomed to it every day like I am it comes with ease. I have full trust with my guides when I do my light trance. Some people prefer to have a facilitator for light trance as well especially if they are new at it. It depends on the person going into trance. As far as it being tiring , that can also be true. It used to very difficult for me to handle the energy of the spirit and now it comes with ease because I have learned to control the spirit energy and be able use their energy to do readings instead. Once you can learn to use a spirit’s energy, its not draining your energy. That is through my experience though. Again it varies with different people. Everyone’s different so they all have to figure out what works for them. I can tell you that I love trance work myself. I enjoy it and I love the bond I have with the spirits surrounding me because they have become my best friends. =) I hope this helps you out in answering your questions.

Hi Rondalafay…..
PS…..I channeled for a client , then referred her to you also awhile back……she called me back and was very happy and had alot of nice things to say about you.
Guess we both channeled alot of same info for her ( the SAME person came thru )….WE made her a very happy, satisfied client.
Good going!

Hi Rondalafay……Love your name and your article.
I am a medium also……as a psychic I work only with my 5 Guides and use no tools…..but as a medium I work differently…..my 5 Guides step BACK to allow whoever on the other side coming thru to step FORWARD, to ” take the floor ” in other words… to act as a Guide to and pass info thru me to the client.
I channel same as John Edwards ( the psychic )….when they taped his show years ago I was chosen to be a back up for him as our styles are so similiar in channeling.
Your article was very informative and brilliantly written ! I hear so many good things about you.

Joy, Gina Rose & Verbena,
It’s quite interesting to learn that not all psychics are mediums, not all mediums are channelers…some trance channel while others just channel. And, each individual seems to have their own personal way of doing things as well.
Hmmmmm. I feel like I’m in a classroom right here, with all of you.
Thanks for the insight & wisdom you all share with us.
Thank you, Rondalafay, for this informative and deep article. I really enjoyed it, a lot.
Every medium has their own unique style. As for myself, my medium ability is the most dominant of all. And it appears that yours is, too.
My guides will bring people forward from the other side, and sometimes, I can be answering an entirely different question, when this happens. For example, I could have a caller ask about a love question, and, as I am answering it, I am the “driver” deciding which “shifts” I need to use. If, the caller would like more details, then, I shift into a remote viewing gear, which can help with and provide a lot of details. Some callers really like that. As I dig deep, in remote viewing, I can then “shift” into another gear, of, clairaudience, where I can actually hear things that were said, actually, statements that were discussed in an prior conversation. As a result, the caller, will say, “Oh he said that exact thing.” Actually, it depends how much the client really wants to know.
As a medium, the information is just “there” in front of me, it just “appears” with no digging or pushing. However, if it is not present, I will begin to channel. It works great. I can then receive the same messages yet, I had to channel in order to receive them.
My channeling skills are an antenna to Heaven, the Eternal world, where nothing is negative or there is no cruelty or judgment. I block out and keep a strong Holy shield against the lower planes. Interestingly enough, when I channel, I channel “high” and in the direction of “up”– never to the side or in the direction of below.
My channeling skills are a direct link to Eternal skies and, with the blessings and support, with my belief, daily practice and soul purpose-in God. Also, prayers that I said, before my shift, in all light and love with glory to God, and God’s protection for me and the client. I have never been let down. Honestly. It’s all pure, and all of love and light. Again, I channel “up” and in the direction very “high” as Heaven is above all of us. It has always worked for me.
I think any clairvoyant has the ability to be a medium or remote viewer, including the ability to channel. In my experience, the psychics who were fantastic in clairvoyance, but said they did not do medium readings, was because there was either a lack of interest to learn and practice, or, a fear. But all clairvoyants can do it. I was doing it as a child, in a religious service, once a year, that at the time was unaware of what I was doing.
Thank you for sharing your information. I would love to see you, again. It was really nice to meet you at the Xmas party. You put a smile on my face, when you said, “You saw my panel on the other side.” I knew without a doubt, exactly who and what you were referring to and, I will always feel a bond to you because of that. From medium to medium…..God bless you.
Miss Krystal
Hi Rondalafay,
Thank you for sharing your experience I find it completely fascinating!
I have a couple of questions…is this also called “trance channeling”? And, is it necessary for a channeler to have a second person there or a “facilitator” of sorts to bring them out of the channel (trance) once the information has been given, since they aren’t in complete control of their body?
Have a great day!
PS…. I’m using this post as an example……
…same client….Rondalafay & myself…..two totally different techniques used .
Same results….we both brought thru the same person from the other side, with the same details.
results….one happy client.
