As you leap into the second month of 2008, brace yourself for a change of energies! This month is full of excitement, astronomically speaking, as it boasts two eclipses, the end of Mercury Retrograde, then tops off the show with an extra day: It’s Leap Year! And, who can forget the mid-month holiday for lovers: Valentine’s Day?

Gather your intentions
For the first few days of this fresh calendar month, it’s a good idea to use the energy of the Sun in Aquarius to do a little soul searching and self-realization practices. With every New Moon we are given the chance to have an emotional “fresh start,” if we choose to attune ourselves to the lunar energy flow. An annular eclipse of the New Moon will take place at 10:45 pm EST on February 6, in Aquarius. Even though you won’t be able to see the lunar event, you can still harness its power. This extra energy can help you turn your dreams into reality!

Emotions run high
Love is in the air – and so is the Moon as she leaves Taurus and enters Gemini on February 14. This Valentine’s Day may be more intellectually stimulating than physically smoldering, but that doesn’t mean there is a lack of romance. The words, “I love you,” are as likely to flow freely during dinner conversation, as they are in a more private setting of an intimate dessert.

If your Valentine failed to be all hearts-and-flowers on the day designated for lovers, February 17 may bring a second chance, when Venus enters Aquarius. The Venus-Aquarius energy is good for us all, as loving thoughtfulness will permeate the air. If you are among those who are hoping still to find that special someone, today’s energy just may bless you with an answer to your prayers.

Daily double
I’m not sure which event is more exciting, but February 19 brings two good tidings! Not only can we relax into our lives knowing that Mercury has once again gone direct and is back on the straight and narrow, but this day also marks when the Sun enters imaginative and sensitive Pisces! Embrace the fresh warm energy of this Piscean time, and do your own “happy dance” for surviving another Mercury Retrograde.

Dark side of the moon
Look to the Heavens on the night of February 20, because the Full Moon will be putting on quite a show with an eclipse that will be apparent from 8:43 pm EST through 12:08 am EST on February 21. Look for the Full Moon to get most of the credit, with having the greatest impact and power. So take a moment to marvel at her glorious show of hiding in, and emerging from, our home planet’s shadow.

Winding down
As the end of the month creeps closer, don’t let your ego take control. Prepare to struggle with an inner demon or two, but use the Pisces Sun to see you through. Everyone has an opinion, but sometimes it is only the wisest of souls who have the consciousness to keep it to themselves. Mercury will re-enter Aquarius (this time direct!) which will help balance out any feelings of frustration from this ego-driven influence.

Universal balance
This can actually be a good time to implement all those thoughts and ideas you know are good, but just never got around to manifesting. Because of the Mercury-Aquarius energy, old projects, if properly pursued, can take on new life. Lastly, February 28 is all about universal balance. This day can be quite Karmic as the energies of Saturn in opposition of Neptune have a way of bringing up things from our past to present a new perspective – offering an opportunity for amends.

Leap year
