Fire signs Leo and Sagittarius were the brightest stars at the 82nd Academy Awards, taking many of the top awards. This isn’t surprising, since Fire is the element of passion.
Leo Sandra Bullock won Best Actress for her courageous and warm-hearted (so very Leo!) performance in The Blind Side. Bullock’s Moon in Aquarius empowered the humanitarian side of her character.
Winners with both Sun and Mercury in optimistic, outspoken Sagittarius included Jeff Bridges for Best Actor (Crazy Heart), Mo’Nique for Best Supporting Actress (Precious: Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire) and Kathryn Bigelow, the first woman to take home an Oscar for Best Director (The Hurt Locker, which also won Best Picture). Since Sagittarius is the sign of the teacher, perhaps these performances have something to teach us.
The one Air sign of the group was Christoph Waltz, who won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Inglourious Basterds. Curiously, Waltz has Sun, Moon and Neptune in Libra, the sign of peace. So what’s up with his brilliant portrayal of a Nazi? He obviously drew upon his warrior Aries polarity to produce the award-winning performance. Bigelow shares this intriguing ability — she has Venus, Mars, Saturn and Neptune in Libra, but The Hurt Locker follows the perilous work of an Army bomb disposal team during the Iraq War. Ahh, but here’s her secret . . . Jupiter, the planet of luck, is in Aries, the sign of war, undoubtedly helped her film take the top prize.
Congrats to all the artists whose work was recognized last night.
