Today is International Women’s Day. The celebration – which began in honor of women’s economic, social and political achievements, has long since expanded to include a general commemoration of the “fairer” sex (in particularly men celebrating the women they love). And it was officially declared a holiday by the United Nations. Though it is no longer honored in the States (or in most of Western Europe), International Women’s Day is still an official holiday in a number of Eastern European nations, Russia, Italy, Cuba and Vietnam among others. Channel the spirit of the celebration and pay homage to the women you love – including yourself (if you’re a woman, of course)!
