Keeping Perspective

What a special Thanksgiving Day this is for all of our clients and all of us, along with our friends and relatives, to have the opportunity to be thankful for the truly important things we all have — including being surrounded by friends and/or family or even just receiving a smile from a stranger and a wish for a “Happy Thanksgiving” or “a nice day.”

Having a favorite sweater, pet, book or memory. Feeling a crispness in the air or perhaps a tropical salty breeze. Having our intellect, judgment and a zest for life-interested in what is to come for us. Knowing that each of us has opportunity in the future to continue to evolve as an individual as well as the opportunity to meet someone new as a lover or friend or colleague and to continue to celebrate the friendship of those of us close to us now.

Having hope as we realize that despite challenges, we are still here and, as mentioned so often on so many topics in our blogs, the absolute bliss of “letting go” of needing a mansion, an expensive foreign sports car, a bigger diamond, the largest TV in the neighborhood, or someone else to behave just as we need them to in order to validate us.

All of that is not important — we’re still here and it’s not too late for anything. Each one of us still has time to learn to skydive, needlepoint, salsa dance, love someone or have someone love us or teach toddlers to swim. May all of our clients and all of us feel the genuine love that emanates from our work toward our clients and toward each other.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you,

Maryanne

Merry Holidays to everyone, i am blessed to have the love of my life, my family, job and a place to live. The money and hours sucks, i wish i had enough to live comfortable but i don’t. I am poor and no one really believes me i can’t make enough to support food in my home much at all, but for being alive and having the basics i can i am blessed.

I am thankful for The God I know.
To know Him is the best because He is Awesome.
For my children and grandchildren I am so blest.
Hope, the virtue that leaves sometimes, usually
comes back if you give it time. It is really always there– we just can’t always see it. Like a boomerang, it always comes back. Remember that
and survive. Jo Anne, who is grateful.

    Dear Maryanne,
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I really enjoyed your article. Bravo! I feel blessed when I think about all of the blessings I’ve received throughout my life and not focus so much on what I don’t have…..I’ve realized that I DO have so much, even if it’s just hope.
    Love you,
    Fran

    Hi Maryanne. Great article.
The more we focus on what we do not have, the more we will be let down.
In this day in age, all you have to do is turn on the news. By the end of the program, there should be many things in that newscast that show you that you have it better than you think.
That is a quick and easy way to get a reality check on, “Having it better than a lot of others.” I make sure to watch even though some tell me not to do it, because it serves me as such. Yes, my heart goes out to the victims etc. but it always helps me feel that I am protected and have a chance still in this life. And that I have a tomorrow to look forward to waking up to.
When I was in grad school, I was driving a 20 year old car. You would not believe the insults I got. Some would try to be “cute” but it did not feel good. If I bought a better car at that time, then I would not have been able to pull off school. The thing is, I really did not even go to school for myself, it was a gift to my mother, who was a teacher, and I knew it would serve a good purpose for me anyway, but I heard negative things about that, too.
Sometimes we can’t have the best of material goods. But that old car got me to where I needed to be, and I am so glad I even had a car, or I would have been taking the bus and bumming rides off friends, family and neighbors.
I found that a lot of the VIP’s and celebrity clientele I have known through the years, believe it or not, many of them wore simulated diamonds. I had one celebrity tell me don’t buy diamonds, because everyone thinks what she is wearing is real. But then, when I did that, I still had people pointing out to me, that they were not real. But one time, I had my grandma’s diamond necklace on, and they still said it was fake lol
My point is that happiness really does not last in diamonds and fancy cars. What I learned for myself, is the more you can get to a point, where you don’t care what people think or say, the happier you will be. I promise you.
Be grateful for what you do have. And the more kind we are to the world, the better our lives will be. Respect yourself and the others around you. It’s never to late to try harder.
Thank you, again, for this fantastic and inspiring article. Miss Krystal

    Hi Maryanne,
GREAT article… great point…yes, we are all still here and anything is possible
Sounds trite, boring, and stupid…. but after dying twice and crossing over,… but I wake up every morning just happy to be alive.
I know I’ve stated that many times in here….but it’s true.
And I’ve had the custom built fancy house, not one, but TWO corvettes !!!!, jewelry, designer clothes. etc……none of it really matters….you can’t take it with you when you go.
( And no, I did not lose it….I gave it all up, sold most of the STUFF, and downsized about 15 years ago ).
I’m happier now in my old little farm house, with my animals, out in the peace & quiet in the mountains, without all of the STUFF… than I ever even could even have imagined many years ago.
    Blessed Be )O(…..Gina Rose ext.9500
