Nathan, please tell us about your background in counseling.

“Although I have been a professional reader for over 15 years, my counseling studies incorporated Foucault, a French philosopher, who is best known for (among other things) his work on the history of human sexuality. Although there was uncertainty surrounding Foucault’s death—doctors claimed that he died of a nervous system disorder—it was Foucault’s partner, Daniel, who confirmed two years later that the philosopher had died of AIDS. The philosopher had never revealed his condition. As a counselor and a psychic, I have met many people at the sharp end of this illness. I have seen how it affects their relationships and life ahead. As a counselor and a psychic, I have also spoken with LGBT clients who don’t feel comfortable revealing their homosexuality to family and friends, and some feel conflicted about their own sexuality. I am trained to handle these issues and my years of experience and education have given me a lot of insight into human nature.” Are you feeling conflicted? Nathan can use his experience as a psychic and a counselor to work through your issues.

What are some of the biggest issues your cover with your LGBT callers?

“Some of the issues are similar to those of heterosexual callers in relationships, but in many ways, the LGBT community is treated as a minority. Although we live in a very enlightened century, it is important to remember that 31 states in the United States outlaw civil marriages between same-sex couples, only 8 states recognize civil unions, other states allow domestic partnerships between same-sex couples, while other states grant limited domestic partnerships with only some of the same rights as a civil union or full domestic partnership. So a lot of the calls I get from LGBT clients cover divorce, children from previous relationships, raising a child as a single parent, parenting when one person in the couple has had fertility assistance, being trapped in a heterosexual relationship and cheating. There is a lot of stress in these relationships because of the lack of societal acceptance.”

What would you like your potential LGBT callers to know about your adviser services?

“I want them to know that I understand them. I know how difficult their journey has been. I can help them make their romantic relationships stronger because I know that often these couples have had to overcome vulnerability together. I also know that they have more to lose, as many of them have gone against the wishes of their family or their friends in order to be the true version of themselves. They may have been treated as outcasts and have had to struggle with who they are. They have experienced a level of discrimination that many heterosexual relationships have not had to face. I want them to know that the advice and counseling I offer as a psychic is not generic. I treat every caller differently because their issues are different, no matter if they are gay or straight.” Nathan knows that you and your issues are unique.
