The Power of Tarot
What do you think…is life itself an art?
Charlene Livingstone, creator of the Art of Life Tarot, really believes so. Charlene turned to Tarot for guidance when serious illness in her family found her searching for insight.
From a background in Art History, and long hours invested in doing tours and talks in the Art Gallery of Ontario, she has woven together a Tarot Deck which is truly suitable for framing. In fact, the box is designed to make itself into a stand-up frame for your favorite tarot images. What a brilliant idea! So much easier than propping them up as a meditation tool, trapping them between the Kleenex box and alarm clock on the nightstand where they ultimately end up on the floor.
These cards hold a sense of the grand and theatrical, probably because Charlene’s parents were both actors. The quotations which orient our interpretations this week are mostly drawn from world literature and philosophy.

April 12 – Sunday
Eight of Wands

Happy Easter!
The card tells you that the pace of change is picking up and everything is coming into new life. This could be in the area of love, work, personal spiritual growth, or all three, but it will definitely include an increase of communications coming toward you. Whatever the content, it will be in a flurry and it may be tricky to sort out what takes priority. Progress and movement will be highlighted in some way. It could come as a surprise. Proceed with both confidence and caution, after consulting your guidance within.
April 13 – Monday
The Fool
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.” -Thoreau
A fresh start today will surface for you. The energy of the planet Uranus, showing freedom, change, and innovation is highlighted. You will find yourself in love with adventure in some realm. Temper it with practicality. New initiative will be springing up in you. Research and visualize before taking action in love or career situations. It’s going to be a fresh breath of air, whatever it is, that you’re contemplating now. Proceed with solid planning and let the energy move you forward.
April 14 – Tuesday
The Wheel of Fortune
“…a time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” -Ecclesiastes
In general, this shows a turn for the better. This card is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of growth and blessings. But, remember that the nature of any wheel is to turn. Forward movement depends on it. So what was up might be down later, and what was down will later be up.
That’s what’s bringing you sure progress today in love or money issues. If a relationship seems to have taken a downturn, don’t panic. Stay serene and wait it out, taking whatever action is needed without too much attachment. Stay in your center and watch the motion. High cycle will return as surely as a wheel turns.
April 15 – Wednesday
Temperance
“The unlike is joined together and from differences results the most beautiful harmony.”
This card holds a message of good health through balance brought about by the correct mixing of elements. Action and rest, play and work, giving and taking, the list could go on and on.
Meditate today on all the ways you could balance your specific life ingredients in a healthier way. The card promises that in doing so you’ll get more of everything good!
April 16 – Thursday
The Hierophant
“Rules are not necessarily sacred, principles are.” -Franklin Roosevelt
There is a higher ethic beyond rules and regulations. Principles are spiritual realities that the integrity of the Universe hinges on. No person has all the answers all of the time.
It’s true also that human authority, if it’s compassionate and fair, can bless and nurture us a lot. You may feel a need for comfort and security from a human or human institution today. That’s okay. Avoid disappointment by not expecting even the kindest authority to be perfect or to have all the answers all the time.
April 17 – Friday
King of Cups
“It is a good thing to be rich and to be strong, but it is a better thing to be loved.” -Euripedes
A creative and confident guide who rules with compassion is close by you today. Accept their counsel, this card says, because it is offered wisely and lovingly. An opportunity for a relationship with a romantic partner who shows these qualities could come to your attention today. Find some way to appreciate the beauty of art, music, or nature. It will lead to an increase in joy!
April 18 – Saturday
The High Priestess

The card says that you have access to all the wisdom and knowledge you need right now. It’s both inside and outside of you. Your spiritual connection is the most important thing to develop right now, in any way that feels right to you, and makes sense to you.
You will be guided by positive and loving forces in the Universe today, if you reach out to them. It will change the outcome of an important issue for the better!
A Fun Spread to Try: The Peaceful Heart Spread
This is a four card spread which cuts to the root of what we all want more of right now, inner peace. This spread is deceptively simple, in that it reveals a lot of what is most important to you, as well as how to protect and nurture it, and all with a limited amount of cards!
Shuffle the deck well while asking what it is that separates you from total inner peace and what you can do to get more of it. Place the cards face down on the table.
When you feel focused, select four cards randomly from the deck and lay them face down in a simple line, left to right horizontally, on the table before you. The cards will be read left to right, individually one by one.
Take your time to fully get the insight each card has for you by looking at the imagery in detail and asking your guides and angels to fill in the rest.
