Understanding Your Daily Focus

Variety truly is the spice of life. Can you imagine limiting yourself to only using one spice for the rest of your life? I couldn’t do it. I enjoy all the flavors that my spice cupboard contains just as much as I love the fact that the people in my life each bring their own unique perspectives and experiences to the world that we share.

In honor of this I decided to look at proverbs and quotes from across the globe for this week’s Daily Focus. Not only to add some variety to our lives, but to also help us see that as different as we may be, there will always be an underlying familiarity in what we find inspiration in.

July 4

“From small beginnings come great things.” –American Proverb

When America first took its baby steps, no one could have imagined how the country would grow and change into what it is today. We may never know where our small steps might take us, but no matter where they might lead, we will be better and greater for taking them. Today’s word is Grow.

We may not be able to live forever, but the breadth of our lives can be just as vast and can lead to a life well lived. Never put off doing those things that you truly want to do, the things that fill you with happiness and pleasure, and make life worth living. Today’s word is Delve.

When we find ourselves in what feels like an impossible situation it is hard to stay positive, and we often lash out at everything and everyone around us. Finding even a small light in the darkness can help us to see that not only is there a way to healthily deal with our anger, fear, and confusion, but that there is actually a way out of the darkness. Being prepared and spending some time casting your view forward to anticipate potential problems is part of good planning and ensures that we put our energy where it needs to be. Keep your eyes on being successful rather than putting out fires that could have been avoided. Today’s word is Prepared.

Before we can be successful, we need to know what our goals are and plan the path accordingly. If we merely say we want to be a success but have no set goals, we will simply drift and end up discouraged that we cannot manifest the accomplishments that we desire. Today’s word is Planning.

We all share the basic building blocks of life, yet each of us have been created as much by the lives we’ve lived as the genetics that make us up. The most wonderful thing about this is that as individuals we each bring our own perspectives and talents to the world, making it, and life, much richer. Today’s word is Distinctive.

July 10

“Where love reigns, the impossible may be attained.” –Indian Proverb

Love is a powerful thing. When we have people in our lives that love and care about us it can make even the impossible seem possible and give us strength when we doubt our ability to follow through on our goals. We can never have too much of it in our lives. Today’s word is Love.
