Between the signs of Pisces and Taurus is the constellation Aries. It is the first sign of the zodiac, representing those born between March 21 and April 19. A fire sign in the Western zodiac, Aries is associated with boldness, drive, and determination. Many animals share these common traits and a spiritual connection to Aries.
Aries is ruled by Mars — the planet of action, passion, and aggression — which gives Aries a fearless approach to challenges. It’s also ruled by the First House which amplifies Aries’ strong sense of identity and leadership. This combination makes Aries assertive, energetic, and eager to take initiative, always pushing forward with confidence.
The ruling animal of Aries is the ram. Aries are known to be audacious, spirited, direct, and at times, downright confrontational. They are fearless fighters for what they believe to be true and love to “go to battle” for the underdog. They “fight” with their heads and similar to the powerful ram’s horns, their convictions and opinions are tough to crack. The ram’s instinct to climb higher mirrors Aries’ ambition and desire to forge their own path.
The ram may be the symbol and ruling animal of Aries, but that doesn’t limit Aries’ spiritual connections to other animals. Aries can be drawn to many other animals with whom they share a spiritual bond.
The Shepherd Dog
Shepherd dogs are known for playful innocence but balanced by a sense of determination and duty. Known for their leadership and literal ability to herd sheep, they think and act quickly and love the thrill of the chase. Their love of wide, open possibilities resonates with the energies of Aries. They’re also instinctive rescuers of those they care about, just like Aries.
The Arabian Horse
This horse breed is known for its deep intelligence and its sharp sense of coordination. It’s focused, determined, and self-confident when it has a goal in mind. Blending grace and power, it’s a loyal and passionate animal, just like Aries.
The Unicorn
Although a mythical animal, the unicorn’s symbolism is rich with meaning. The Unicorn’s idealism and belief in the impossible is similar to Aries’. Just as the Unicorn symbolizes magic and mythology, this aligns with Aries’ belief that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it.
The Lamb
The lesser-known side of Aries is the gentle innocence they possess. Lambs are known for their docility and domestication. Aries can have a strong gentle streak when it comes to those they trust. This surfaces when Aries are led with kindness and empathy by those they respect. Aries trustingly follows those they consider to be competent and well-meaning, just like the lamb.
The Caribou
Caribou (reindeer) bring gifts as they pull Santa’s sleigh through the snow. Associated with Christmas, the cheerful jingle of the caribou signals good things are on their way. They symbolize generosity and resonate with Aries’ trait of eternal optimism and desire to make others happy.
Caribou run very fast (up to 50 miles per hour), resembling Aries when they’re on a passionate mission. Sharing a similar energy, caribou and Aries cover a lot of ground quickly, and know how to survive in new settings.
How To Incorporate Aries Animals Into Your Journey
When an Aries feels lost or overwhelmed, they can turn to their connections amidst the animal world for clarity and helpful redirection. This sign is a powerful force, and with that strength comes the responsibility to understand, refine, and channel that energy.
Animals are messengers that speak the language of energy. Connection with animals helps to connect us with Spirit. Animals tend to find us when we need their strength, comfort, and love.
By understanding the animals associated with zodiac signs, we understand ourselves and others better. By imitating the positive strengths and traits of animals, we encourage their positive traits within ourselves.
Carrying a totem such as a keychain or making your cellphone wallpaper one of your zodiac animals can also be a great way to attract that positive energy and inspiration to your life.
If you’re uncertain about your own spiritual connections with the animal world, consider seeking out psychic guidance to understand which animals resonate most with your inner world and how you can best integrate those connections into your life.
