When Emotions Rule
We all have different ways of expressing our emotions.
Sometimes we don’t know why we feel the way we do. Nor is it always easy to
understand why some people react one way to something and others have a totally
different reaction.
One way to understand how each zodiac sign expresses their
emotions is to understand the qualities, also called modalities, of each sign.
These qualities are cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Each modality consists of
four zodiac signs that represent the four elements of Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.
Each of the four elements are represented by three zodiac signs:
Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Cardinal Signs
Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn
These signs act out their emotions and can initiate expression
with a fiery swiftness. They love to be in control of their environment.
Fixed Signs
Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius
These signs feel their emotions deeply, may hide them well, and can sustain them indefinitely. They tend to try to control their own emotions and reactions.
Mutable Signs
Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces
These signs tend to have highly changeable emotions and can
be quite adaptable in their expression. They are the most flexible in their
feelings.

When the fine intellect of the Twins mixes with emotion, be ready for a chemical reaction. They might laugh, dance, chatter, and play the night away for pleasure and happiness. But when they are bored, worried, or sad, they can shut down and quietly go into the dreaded mode of over-thinking and end up spiraling into the deepest pain. The changeable nature of the Mercury-ruled can make them appear two-faced, double-minded, or merely indecisive.

The lunar moods of Moon Children can ebb and flow, and seem as changeable as the tide, but a hug can make them feel better almost instantly. The Moonling can be intensely private, but when they feel safe, they can come out of their hard shell so you can see their soft, sentimental, sensitive insides. However, when the Crab grows angry, watch out for their snapping claws. They can instantly become cranky, moody, and yes, downright crabby.

Warm as the sun that rules them, Leos can be joyfully magnetic and generous with goodwill toward others. When Big Cats are infuriated, however, even the gentlest Lion can roar with such ferocity they could unnerve a Tyrannosaurus Rex. They can become overly dramatic when they feel victimized. Because their feelings are so strong, they can lose sight of the big picture and appear very self-absorbed.

When sad or upset, Mercurians need a little time alone to brood
until they can figure out a solution to their troubles. Virgins are cool
analyzers, but they must remember that emotions aren’t logical, and they cannot
usually think their feelings away. Trouble sets in when their normally
nurturing natures turn severely critical. They can pick things, and people,
apart with piercing cruelty.

everything is fine, even when they want to weep. While they can suppress their
feelings for a time, eventually their scales will tip out of balance, and they may
abruptly erupt into fierce arguing. That’s when you’ll realize they’ve

one, with such mean-spiritedness that it may permanently destroy the love and
trust in your relationship.

The charismatic Mars-Plutonian embodies intensely passionate
feelings. When they love you, it is tangible. You will literally feel their warmth.
They can be exquisitely sensitive, gentle, sweet, and kind. But when the heat
of fiery rage mixes with the Scorpion’s roiling inner seas, brace yourself for
their tidal wave of fury. Hurt and anger can last a long time unless they can
