No doubt about it – Sagittarius and star-power go hand in hand. Just look at this line-up of Sagittarian superstars: Brad Pitt, Jamie Foxx, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Katie Holmes, Steven Spielberg, Lucy Liu, Teri Hatcher, Ben Stiller, Jake Gyllenhaal, Julianne Moore – and the list goes on. So many of Hollywood’s A-list celebs are Sags because luck often blesses the generous, optimistic Archer.
Also, being a Fire sign means they’ll jump in where others fear to tread, and these risks can pay off big time. Sometimes, however, they’re irrepressible wild side can get them into trouble (think Britney Spears). But usually their passion and enthusiasm attract good fortune.
Of course, not all Sagittarians are alike. A strong emphasis on elements other than Fire, such as Water for emotional sensitivity or Earth for patience and practicality, will color their approach to life. To illustrate how Sagittarians can be both similar and different from each other, we’ll analyze the charts of some famous Archers.
Brad Pitt – December 18, 1963
Raising so many kids with partner Angelina Jolie (six at last count) takes some inner strength, and this Sag has the right stuff. With Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars in practical, stalwart Capricorn, Pitt is unusually grounded for an Archer. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a free spirit at heart, but it’s balanced with the ability to take on loads of responsibility. Being ruled by disciplined Saturn, Capricorn is the archetypal parent, which makes Pitt a natural father. Also, the Earth emphasis in his chart also gives him the gift of realism in his acting. In the romance arena, his tie to Jolie, a Gemini with Cancer ascendant, stems from being her opposite sign and having his Capricorn influences placed near her 7th House of partnerships. It’s a powerful tie. Which is a good thing for this family of eight (and growing).
Julianne Moore – December 3, 1960
This stunning redhead has starred in such films as The End of the Affair (2000) and Far from Heaven (2003), both of which earned her Academy Award nominations for Best Actress. Making her especially versatile is Moon in Gemini, which also gives Moore the gift of verbal self-expression. But with Venus, Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn, she has an earthy side like Pitt, especially when it comes to relationships. Her Gemini influence indicates she’s somewhat fickle, but when she finds true love, she’s in it for the long haul. Plus, her Mars in Cancer gives her a strong family focus. After her nine-year marriage to John Gould Rubin ended, Moore married director Bart Freundlitch in 2000. They have a son and daughter together. She is also an strong advocate for Planned Parenthood and women’s rights.
Jamie Foxx – December 13, 1967
Who could forget Foxx’s extraordinary portrayal of singer/pianist Ray Charles in the film Ray, which earned him an Academy Award? But this talented actor is also a comedian – no surprise there, considering how Archers love to laugh. With talkative Mercury in jovial Sagittarius and Mars in quick-thinking Aquarius, Foxx is both funny and brilliant as an entertainer. The Sag/Aquarius combination also gives him a rebellious streak. But like Moore and Pitt, Foxx has strong Earth placements, too. He has his Moon in grounded Taurus and Jupiter in analytical Virgo, which helps him excel in portraying a real-life character. In love, with Venus in Scorpio, Foxx can turn from lighthearted to passionate and possessive in a flash, especially if his deeper feelings are engaged. But true to his restless nature, this Archer remains single.
Jake Gyllenhaal – December 19, 1980
Gyllenhaal shot to fame after the release of Brokeback Mountain, in which he portrayed a bisexual cowboy. Interestingly, Gyllenhaal’s film debut at age 11 was in City Slickers, another film with a Western theme. Do we sense an Earth emphasis here? You bet! Gyllenhaal has Mars in Capricorn and may have Moon in Taurus, depending on his time of birth. But his most intriguing influence is the Neptune conjunction to his Sun and Mercury, which gives him a powerful imagination and a talent for acting. It also gives him an idealistic, spiritual nature. He certainly manifested the spiritual side of Sag when he studied Eastern religions and philosophy at Columbia University. As for romance, a Venus in Sagittarius may make it hard for him to settle down. It also says he likes fiery women, and he found one – he’s currently involved with Rendition co-star Reese Witherspoon, an Aries. Perhaps these two Fire signs will find true love together – married or not!
Whether they’re wild and fiery or grounded and sensitive, the greatest gift of a Sagittarian is the ability to expand our vision of how the world could be – with a little help from above.
