Tech visionaries are in a class all their own. They have dramatically changed the way we work and play – and created billions of dollars of wealth. So what astrological influences create such ingeniousness? Plenty of pioneering fire signs and innovative Aquarius energy, as we’ll see in the charts of Apple’s Steve Jobs and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
Steve Jobs: rebel with a cause
Charismatic and temperamental, Macintosh Computer guru Steve Jobs is the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Apple Inc. This multitalented Pisces is also the founder of Pixar Animation Studios, which has created such hits as Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Ratatouille.
Born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco, Jobs has Sun in Pisces and Moon and Mars in fiery Aries. Pisces gives him a flair for artistry – Jobs is known for designing products with aesthetics in mind (think iPod and iPhone). Also, Pisces is linked to the film industry, hence Jobs’ successful foray into animation. His imaginative Pisces nature, combined with the aggressiveness of Aries, undoubtedly inspired the term “realty distortion field,” a phrase used to describe the effect his magnetism and potent marketing skills have on Mac devotees.
Blame it on the moon
Without the Aries drive for being first and foremost, Jobs wouldn’t have been nearly so instrumental in launching a new industry (it’s hard to imagine that most people didn’t own a computer until the ’90s). With Moon and Mars in this pioneering fire sign, Jobs has a passion for new inventions that break the mold. Aries also gives him a demanding, competitive and headstrong personality. Note: Bill Gates of Microsoft has Moon in Aries too.
Apple
One interesting note: Apple as a company is an Aries – Jobs and his former partner, Steve Wozniak, founded Apple Computer Co. on April 1, 1976. Wozniak is a Leo, so there’s lots of fire surrounding this company!
Nerd energy
As for being the quintessential nerd, that’s the domain of Aquarius, the sign of innovation and technology. Mercury in Aquarius gives Jobs the brains for tech and the foresight to envision a world populated with personal computers.
In the relationship arena, Jobs’ Venus in grounded Capricorn says that being vulnerable is a challenge for him in love. But it also favors longevity, and he’s been married to Laurene Powell for 17 years. At a Stanford University commencement address in 2005, Jobs said, “You’ve got to find what you love” in both relationships and work. Fitting advice from a soulful Pisces, who certainly seems to be walking his talk.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin: the billionaire boys club
Page and Brin were close friends and in a Ph.D. program together when they launched Google in 1998. The wildly successful search company has seen its stock soar into outer space since it went public in 2004, making its fire-sign founders, just 31 at the time, two of the youngest billionaires in the world.
Born on March 26, 1973 in Michigan, Page has Sun and Venus in Aries. Like Jobs, he has a competitive spirit and a desire to explore unchartered territory (which may apply to his love life as well). Born on August 21, 1973 in Russia, Brin has Sun and Mercury in creative Leo and Venus in artistic Libra. This Aries-Leo partnership has plenty of energy, enthusiasm and creativity.
Earth energy
Practicality isn’t in short supply, either – earth influences help bring their ideas into reality. Page has Mars in ambitious Capricorn (and Moon in either Cap or Sagittarius, depending on his time of birth). Mars is your drive. Some of the driving force within Page is to build a solid and successful business. Brin has Mars in grounded Taurus (and Moon in either Taurus or Gemini). With both their Mars in earth signs, they work well together on a practical level – obviously, since each has a net worth of about $18 billion.
In love
Obviously being rich and single wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, because both Page and Brin got married in 2007. In May, Brin married Anne Wojcicki, a biotech analyst. Seven months later, Page married Lucinda Southworth, a doctoral student in biomedical informatics at Stanford University. Success is nice, but it can’t take the place of love.
Jupiter
Speaking of success, let’s not forget Jupiter, the planet of luck. Both Page and Brin have Jupiter in Aquarius, which rules the information age. What’s more, Aquarius rules humanitarianism. Google is involved in developing electric vehicles, one of many projects that will tackle global warming, poverty and disease. Jupiter in Aquarius has certainly bestowed the best on Page, Brin and their brainchild, Google.
People in tune with Aquarius energy are the innovators and humanitarians of the world. Wherever Aquarius resides in your chart is where your inner genius lies. We can’t all be brilliant innovators like Jobs, Page and Brin, but we all have talents to contribute in making the world a better place.
