Tonight is the longest night of the year, a time for celebration and introspection. Winter is a time of hibernation for some animals, but for us it can be about looking into ourselves for mistakes we made, learn what we can change about ourselves to make the upcoming year better, and to forgive others for what we believe they have done to harm or stagnate us. Move forward through the longest night and know that as the sun slowly starts to reclaim the sky that your tomorrow will be just as bright. Today’s word is Awakening.

Considering how many holidays there are from now until the middle of March and the beginning of spring, it is easy to agree with this quote. If we wanted to, we could probably find any number of little and well known holidays to bring a festive flavor to the cold of winter. Maybe that is the real lesson that we can take from this idea, that everyday should be a celebration and that we shouldn’t wait for the red-letter days on a calendar to realize it. Many of us worry about finding the perfect gift for our loved ones.
