A Tarot Reading for the Week
This week, we’re diving back into the Tarot to see what the cards have to say. Every card has its own individual meaning, but each can also play into the larger energies at work. Since nothing happens in a vacuum, with Tarot we always use the entire spread, or the way all the cards are laid out in a reading, to divine more than the individual meanings of the cards.
There were a few different themes present in this week’s reading. The first few cards pulled were reversed, indicating tension. However, this resolves as the week moves on. On Thursday, the cards revert to showing trouble, but Friday provides a chance to set things right. Overall, this week asks us to take risks, look at things differently, and be flexible.

“Ten of Wands Reversed is all about vindication, winning by luck, and big risks paying off.”
If you’re feeling on the fence about a certain course of action, there’s no way to know for sure whether you will succeed. But if you don’t try, you’ll always wonder. Is that something you can live with? Only you can say for sure. As they say, “nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

“The Star Reversed is a card that embodies a paradigm shift, like finding out your idols are not what they seem.”
It’s best not to put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak, and while The Star is a card of hope, seeing it reversed can indicate that some of that hope was likely misplaced. The consequences of this misstep could vary. It may be as simple as realizing that you’ve put someone on a pedestal they don’t deserve to be on. Of course, it may also involve realizing that you’ve been led astray, and that true north is off in another, completely different direction.

“King of Cups Reversed: letting your emotions make choices for you, being too caught up in the moment to think about the consequences, a misuse of authority or power over someone.”
The King of Cups has learned every lesson his suit has to teach, and as such he usually is not one to lose control of his emotions. In fact, for him to do so, he has to be put through an extreme situation. Acting out when you know better requires effort. This will be your challenge today. You have everything you need to make a move, but you should be aware that it is not without consequence, and that you also have everything you need to walk away.

“Ace of Cups: a blessing, a gift. New romance, pregnancy, expansion of love.”
This is a day for growth and connection. Perhaps you can make a breakthrough in a relationship, or maybe a new partnership or friendship will bloom. Take the time and try to make a connection today; you never know what may come of it.
Wednesday, May 18
“The Queen of Pentacles is a matriarch, a protector, someone who can look over you and keep you in line.”
This is a good day to lean on people who have been there for you in the past. If there is someone you have lost touch with but have been thinking about reaching out to, this might be a good time. It’s not a bad idea to trust someone and lessen your own load by sharing concerns or secrets.

“Justice Reversed warns us that we may be on the losing end today.”
Justice is a bit self-explanatory. It’s a card of cosmic and divine morality, of getting what’s coming to you, both good and bad. Here, in its reversed position, it could be a warning that things might be a little off today. They might feel particularly unfair, or it might seem like the world is out to get you. Try to remember that this will pass.

“The Seven of Pentacles tells us the only way out is through. It’s time to do whatever work is needed to make things smoother down the line.”
After a somewhat tumultuous, emotional week, today finds us a bit more clearheaded. This is a good day to plan or put plans into action. Start working with the knowledge that the only way to get where you’re going is to move forward. The work you put in today will pay off in time.
