Where I live, things have been a bit greyer than I would like them to be. Its not that I don’t like the rain, but the day in and day out of grey skies tends to suck the life out of me. It’s amazing how something as simple as color can change our mood?
Businesses choose color palettes that will affect their clients and customers in set ways. Warm reds, oranges, and yellows in restaurants tend to get people to eat more, whereas soothing blues and greens are favored by medical clinics as they promote relaxation.
Color is all around us and can be another tool in our arsenal to help us maintain our personal energy reserves so that those grey, rainy days don’t completely blot out the sun. This week’s daily focus will explore the versatility of color in our physical and spiritual lives.

Red is a color of passion, power, and confidence. People either love the color or hate it, there really doesn’t seem to be an in between when it comes to red. We should try to live our own lives in a similar way. Be bold, be fierce, and take a stand when things are important to you. Today’s word is Fearless.

I admit, blue is one of my favorite colors and many of my go to stones and crystals share this hue: lapis, larimar, sapphire, kyanite, and sodalite. These are peaceful stones that call out to our desire for tranquility and to our intuitive sides. Listening to our inner voice when it is time for us to find some peace and harmony in our lives is sometimes hard when life becomes a cacophony of sounds, demands, and expectations. When all else fails and you feel overwhelmed, look to the sky or the water and find your tranquil place that we all have inside. Today’s word is Equilibrium.

There is something about the color yellow that can bring a smile to anyone’s face. It is unabashedly bold and cheerful, and perhaps, also hopeful. Growing up, some of the first flowers that would brave the cold were the daffodils in our backyard. They always reminded me that the cold, unforgiving New England winter would soon be nothing more than an unpleasant memory, and to hold on for a little longer. Seeing those little shots of yellow always perked me up and gave me hope that spring really was right around the corner. Happiness is something that we all can agree on as being critical to our well being. So, break out that yellow and get ready to smile! Today’s word is Sunshine.

When life gets crazy and hectic, we need to soothe our frazzled nerves and green is the color that can help us to do that. Whether we are accenting our home with verdant shades of varying hues or getting out and surrounding ourselves with nature, greens can be an important color in our toolbox to help fight the doldrums that try to overwhelm us. Today, take some time to get back to nature, or pick up a pretty plant to bring the greens into your sanctuary space. Today’s word is Calm.

Trust is not easily created, and once gone can sometimes be impossible to get back, but we must be able to trust ourselves. In order to trust others and to place our trust wisely, we need to know ourselves and have faith in our abilities to make the best choices. Usually it is when we start to overthink everything that we make decisions that do not serve us. Take time to get to know you, what makes you tick, what makes you feel happy and fulfilled, and what you need energetically from those in your life, and not only will you learn to trust yourself, but you will learn to build relationships that can truly last a lifetime. Just as we can never find the end of the rainbow, we too are limitless in what we can overcome and achieve.
