Understanding Your Daily Focus
In Astrology, when looking at zodiac signs, one of the things we look at is the element of the sign. Every zodiac sign falls into one of these categories, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. There are three of each, for a total of twelve. In addition to being associated with an element, each zodiac sign is also assigned what we call a modality, and which refers to the overall state of being of each of the signs. The signs are either Cardinal, Fixed, or Mutable, with each of the three categories holding four of the signs.
Both of these factors tell us about the nature of the sign, how people born underneath that sign act and react, and where those things overlap and intersect. In this week’s Daily Focus, I want to look not at the individual signs, but at the way we group them along these lines and where there are similarities and differences among them, as well as how we can tap into the various energies they offer.
Saturday, October 9
“Fire signs are known for being creative, outgoing, and
confident. They all like to be at the center of something, be it the
conversation, the stage, or attention in general. Passionate, full of ideas,
adventurous and loyal.”
The Fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. People who
are born under these signs are passionate, creative, and entertaining. All of
the Fire signs like to do things. They are all about action. The best
gift you can give a Fire sign is an adventure. They live for experience,
travel, and exploration in general.
Sunday, October 10
“Air signs are thinkers. They are humanitarians, who want to
see power, knowledge, and wealth distributed fairly. They are non-judgmental
and lovers of all kinds of people.”
The Air signs are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. All Air signs
are interested in learning. The exploration they prefer is mental. People with
a lot of Air in their natal chart are the kinds of people who watch serial
killer documentaries to unwind. There is a thirst for knowledge, to learn more,
to know more, and then to share that information in turn.
Monday, October 11
“Water signs are big feelers. They are empathic, emotional, and compassionate. They make for great friends, as they are good listeners, and know-how to focus attention wholly on the people who they are interested in.”
The Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. These signs
are known for being emotional, the feelers of the zodiac. They’re also the most
empathetic and often the most intuitive of the signs. Whenever we are in a Water
season, we will feel the emotional, romantic, and sometimes overwhelming
energies of these zodiac signs.
Tuesday, October 12
“Earth signs are sturdy, hard-working, and loyal. Known for
being pragmatic, traditional, and nurturing.”
The Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Earth
signs are known for being a little more traditional, sometimes a bit stern,
dry, and pragmatic. They’re also good leaders and nurturing caregivers and
partners. These seasons are great for planning, putting in hard work, and
creating a safe and sturdy place to thrive.
Wednesday, October 13
“Cardinal signs are leaders. They are the ones who have the
ideas, who get things started, and carve out new pathways.”
The Cardinal signs are Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, and Libra. Cardinal signs make great leaders. They have the ability to inspire others, to bring ideas into the physical world. When we are under a Cardinal sign, it’s a good time to start new projects, collaborate with others, and get our ideas out there.

“Fixed signs are traditional, sturdy, and grounded. They
know what they like, and they know how to get it.”
The Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.
These are all the most traditional of their respective elements. Fixed signs
know who they are. They know what they want. And above all else, they know how
to get it. They’re not easily swayed by others, but rather choose to walk their
own path. Being under one of these signs means it’s a great time to put down
roots, make big life choices, and focus on the future.

“Mutable signs are easy going and flexible. They like to be around all different sorts of people because it allows them to be a different version of themselves each time.”
The Mutable Signs are Virgo,
Sagittarius, Pisces, and Gemini. Mutable signs are great at fitting in
anywhere. They can make friends with anyone who comes their way, and they enjoy
