Relationship Myths You Should Avoid

Advice to Ignore When Starting a New Relationship!

When it comes to relationships, everybody’s a critic, and everybody wants to be extra helpful, too. But even more deadly can be the unspoken assumptions we may harbor about what relationships are or are not supposed to be. In particular, there are a few particularly pernicious ones that are best avoided if you want your relationship to have a chance of getting off the ground…

Koz Media reports:

So many times, women are operating under false assumptions about relationships that cause us to feel sad, lonely, and disconnected from their man. These dangerous relationship myths are so widespread, it’s no wonder so many of us have suffered the sting of heartache.

Relationship Myth #1: Giving = Getting

While it’s true that every relationship is give and take, the truth is that men don’t fall in love because you’ve given them so much. Men fall in love when they are able to give to a woman. They fall in love when you take care of yourself and share your emotional experiences with them. Never give a man more than he’s given you, including expressions of love and encouragement. Hint: Don’t keep telling him you love him when he hasn’t said it to you yet.

Relationship Myth #2: Exclusivity Leads to Commitment and Marriage

This is the most dangerous myth we women have come to believe. Here’s the shocking truth: What makes a man want to give up his freedom and single status for you has nothing to do with the fact that you’ve given him all your time and emotional energy. The moment a man smells that need and desperation that comes from having an unconscious agenda of how things “should be”, his feelings of attraction for you will fade.

What do you think — what relationship myths do you think are best avoided?

“The only person you can change is yourself. Learn to accept others as they are or move on.” – Rivers ext. 5273

“Relationships are hard. To say they aren’t is a lie, but the best things in life are the ones we have to work at constantly, and still enjoy.” – Lacy ext. 5494

FORM : the moment you get together.
STORM: The usual patten of getting into the relationship and learning”arguments”
NORM: The moment you are familier with eachother and start to cruise
PERFORM: When you are on a roll and take the relationship to another level.

BUT REMEMBER you can fall into any of these cycles as the dynamics change in the realtionship, ne job, kids, money. However with time, comes respect and mutual harmony if you work at it! Good luck I’ve seen a marriage that is sixty years old, however they bicker and argue, however they listen, reason and flow with the challenges, it is a relationship built on love that was earned not given!
