I’ve recently had a reading with a psychic and she sensed that I have psychic abilities. How do I develop and explore that ability?
Dear Kathleen,
Every one of us has psychic abilities, it’s just that some of us tap into those abilities more easily than others. There are no hard and fast rules as to how to explore and develop your talents, other than accepting that it is going to take desire, time and dedication.
Just as you are unique, learning about your own psychic nature will be a unique experience. Fortunately, there is a lot of information readily available to guide you through this journey, on the California Psychics website, on the Internet, and through books, CDs, and DVDs. The more information you have, the easier it will be for you to find a way of recognizing and utilizing your natural gifts. Keep in mind that every guru out there has a theory and a methodology — but that doesn’t mean that everything you come across applies to you, or will work for you. It’s all just information and exercises to help you recognize and develop. Your own intuition is ultimately going to be your best teacher, particularly when you learn to trust it.
Aside from study, meditation is extremely beneficial. When the conscious mind is quiet, it is much easier for the subconscious to communicate. While it does take practice, learning how to stop the chatter, or at least learning the difference between chatter and a message (whether it be sense, sound, knowing, symbol or vision) is a definitely a breakthrough.
I feel you may have an easier time if you supplement your own research with a teacher or partner. Keep your eyes open for any workshops in your area at colleges or metaphysical bookstores. Working with someone will help you validate yourself and your progress. I would also encourage you to keep a journal for the same reason. Results aren’t always immediate or immediately recognizable, so keeping a record of your journey is always a useful tool.
Good Luck!
