Ancient Greek Mysteries

In ancient Greece, the 14th of September marked the first day of a celebration known as “The Greater Mysteries.” According to Plato, the ultimate design of the Mysteries was to lead people back to the principles from which they’d descended and help them connect with the spiritual realm, but not everyone was allowed to participate. The Mysteries were only open to priests, priestesses and hierophants (mystics) or those they’d invited to learn the secrets that were to be revealed. What exactly those invited learned at the ceremony’s conclusion, however, remains a mystery.
