Today is the birthday of Carl Sagan (1934-1996), the highly educated, American astronomer who made science and the stars intriguing to many in his popular PBS television series Cosmos. No doubt this Scorpio was an expert at revealing scientific secrets. He was one of the first to perceive that global warming was a growing and grave human-made danger. The Pulitzer Prize winning author was obsessed with the stars and planets (especially Mars and Venus). Plus, he held a strong belief in extra-terrestrial intelligence and protested adamantly against the development of nuclear energy. One might say, he was a man ahead of his time.
