Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, back when it was still called Leningrad, Julia emigrated to the U.S. as a child with her parents and twin sister, Victoria. She discovered her interest in photography and visual arts in high school and attended San Francisco State University, graduating with a degree in Industrial Design (with an emphasis in graphic design).
Her minimalist style is characterized by high contrast images that celebrate the mystery and mood of black and white film. She is particularly drawn to entrances and doorways but her body of work also includes portraiture, landscape and travel photography. Her latest interest is photographing dolls, providing a voyeuristic yet ambivalent glimpse into their lives.
After working as a web designer in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Julia joined the staff of California Psychics as Art Director in 2006.
